yssim999: Speaking of Gas

Chavez offers cheap gas to poor in U.S.

Tuesday, August 23, 2005; Posted: 7:29 p.m. EDT (23:29 GMT)

HAVANA, Cuba (Reuters) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, popular with the poor at home, offered on Tuesday to help needy Americans with cheap supplies of gasoline.

"We want to sell gasoline and heating fuel directly to poor communities in the United States," the populist leader told reporters at the end of a visit to Communist-run Cuba.

Chavez did not say how Venezuela would go about providing gasoline to poor communities. Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA owns Citgo, which has 14,000 gas stations in the United States.

The offer may sound attractive to Americans feeling pinched by soaring prices at the pump but not to the U.S. government, which sees Chavez as a left-wing troublemaker in Latin America.

Gasoline is cheaper than mineral water in oil-producing Venezuela, where consumers can fill their tanks for less than $2. Average gas prices have risen to $2.61 a gallon in the United States, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Chavez said Venezuela could supply gasoline to Americans at half the price they now pay if intermediaries who "speculated ... and exploited consumers" were cut out.

Venezuela supplies Cuba with generously financed oil and plans to help Caribbean nations foot their oil bills.

Chavez, in Cuba to attend the graduation of Cuban-trained doctors from 28 countries, was seen off at the airport by Cuban President Fidel Castro. Washington has accused the two leaders of being a destabilizing influence in South America.

Chavez and Castro offered to give poor Americans free health care and train doctors free of charge.

why are we afraid to accept charity just because they aren't from a democracy? (rhetorical sarcastic question, btw)
i just read he is also offering aid for Katrina, hopefully our leaders won't be too stubborn to allow that to happen.

You know, I really wish the Walken camp would cough up a little more info about Mr. Walken's politics, because I'd really love to vote for him, but I can't do it just because he's Christopher Walken.... Now if he had done this in 2004.... well... ya know.... Anyone but Bush.

I have had more than enough of right wing Christians for one day, already. I have one question to ask of these people who would DARE inflict more psychological damage on a woman getting an abortion- Who the fuck do you think you are? If it's NOT you, and it never HAS BEEN you, and it never WILL BE you, then why are you so fucking concerned? I'll never stop saying it- KEP YOUR ROSARIES OFF MY OVARIES.

Definitly WEAK.

N.Y.C. Officials Warn Of Bad Heroin After Six Deaths
POSTED: 6:43 am EDT August 17, 2005
UPDATED: 6:55 am EDT August 17, 2005
NEW YORK -- Officials in New York City are warning there may be a lethal batch of heroin.
Six people have been found either dead or dying in lower Manhattan, and authorities think the cases may be linked.
Police have been questioning dealers and informants, trying to track the source of the heroin, which might be tainted or just too potent.
The city's health commissioner said heroin can be deadly, unadulterated or not. He's awaiting test results that will confirm or disprove the six deaths so far are linked.

Reason number 235476 why heroin is bad for you. You know why this concerns me though? If someone is willing to do that with heroin, there is nothing to say that somebody won't do it with anything else. It's a creepy thought. So to everyone reading who does drugs, whether they should be legal or otherwise, keep an eye on your bags.

Free drugs? That's cool. Getting more than what you bargained for in the drugs you paid for? FUCKING WEAK.

strandedoctober: fucking over it.

so i'm going to rant a lil bit about telemarketers. i'm having a bit of a problem with a certain telemarketing company that has called me 4 times in the past 6 days. i missed the 1st, 2nd and 4th call but i managed to answer on the 3rd call. they were trying to award me for my visa or mastercard rewards, or some stupid bullshit. now i've worked in telemarketing so i know this is all stupid bullshit, most people don't even have the dumb credit cards. i told them all that and they said, and i quote "well i can't help you there, can i?". why the fuck are you calling me then?!? my problem with this certain telemarketer is that they called me on my cell and there is no area code. it just comes up as "813-2738". i ask the bitch what the area code is and she hangs up on me. i figure that after the 4th call that they must have made an fcc violation somehow. i call the fcc today, and the bitch there basically was all "and? why are you calling us?". because you are the regulators of telephone commercial sales calls you dumb ass. well so my rant is, why the hell are these people allowed to call me on my cell phone which uses up my daytime minutes? and why won't the fcc do anything about it? so fucking over it.

Anyone else had ENOUGH of Congress in baseball?? I mean, don't these people have better things to do with their time? I understand at this point they had to look at Raffy's whole report because of perjury issues, but the whole thing never should have happened. There are way more guys in the NFL on any given day weasiling ways to juice. Sorry, simple fact.
Congress should have absolutely nothing to say about how Major League Baseball or any other league, or any other sport, tests or penalizes it's players. Sorry guys, you don't get to do it all.
